What trees would you recommend for San Antonio area for the back yard, a southern exposure for the house? When would you plant them?

Kim,

There are many trees that would be great. I would consider a Monterrey Oak, a Chinkapin oak, a Drake Elm and a Lacey Oak. You can plant any time if you give them adequate water but the best planting time is October and November.
