Ivy is really difficult to eradicate. Cutting, pulling and digging are sure-fire ways, but you have to get all of the roots or new plants will sprout. You might try cutting the vines down and immediately painting the cuts with full strength Round-Up. This method is especially good in the fall when plants are normally collecting energy from the leaves and translocating it to the roots for storage. Round-Up is a vegetation killer so keep it away from plants you want to keep!
