I'm putting in a pool in my backyard. I'll have an area about 7' x 25' to plant shrubs and tropical plants behind the pool. I live in hot, humid Houston TX (and really wet right now). What plants would you recommend?

Frank,

There are many great plants for such an area. I would consider Red Bird of Paradise (Caesalpinia pulccherima), Yellow Bells (Tecoma stans), Firebush, Perennial Hibiscus (varieties like Lady Baltimmore, Flare, Moy Grande, and the Luna series). Other plants include Tropicanna or Phasion Canna, Copper Plant, and Angel's Trumpet (Brugmansia).

Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon!
