I have a hardy hibiscus plant(bush) and I want it to be more compact instead of leggy and bushy. ( I am obviously a newly converted gardener!!) What do I do? Cut branches, what??? Help!!

p.s. gardening is cheaper than therapy

Betty,

Snipping the tips of shoots will help a little but will affect bloom production. I think you will find that each year as more shoots grow from the base of the plant it gets thicker on its own. You might want to try the semi dwarf Luna series of hardy hibiscus.
