My patio has a raised garden bed which gets very little sun - I have a couple of ferns which are very happy there. Are there seeds for various types of ferns avalable? Are they hard to grow from seed?

Ferns grow from spores, most of them dust-like particles that form on the undersides of the fronds. You can inspect your ferns for spores and collect them to plant, but it's pretty intensive work. The spores must be mature before collection, and it's difficult for a novice to tell when they're ready. I'd suggest visiting a nursery to find some new fern plants to add to your collection. There are dozens of ferns available - the difficult part is choosing which ones to grow!
