The Q&A Archives: Bare Spots

Question: I have an ugly bear spot in my fescure lawn. What is the best way to patch it without resodding?

Answer: Charles,

You should be able to reseed the spot with fescue seed. Hoe aways any weeds and scratch the soil surface with a rake then scatter the seeds and water it in well. Keep the area moist until the seedlings are established well and have a good root system. Fescue seed will come up and grow best a little later in the year when summer is breaking and fall weather is starting to arrive.
