The Q&A Archives: fruit trees

Question: I would like to know which fruit trees i can plant that would thrive best in this area. I like peaches, bananas, plum, nectarine, apple etc. and want to find the best, most ideal way to plant for best fruit growth,

Answer: Brenda,

Your area is too far north for bananas to be a fruiting plant. They will grow as a perennial dying to the ground in winter and resprouting the next spring if mulched well. The other fruits can be grow productively in your area. The following web sites offer more info than I can fit in this brief reply. They are excellent, detailed resources for growing fruit in Georgia.
