My lawn was recently seeded with a blend of grass to achieve quick growth as well as a longer perennial grass. It's about 4 in long now. When can I cut it and how to I fertilize?

Begin mowing at 4 to 4 and a half inches, set the blade high at 3 inches. Mow often so you never remove more than one third the lawn height at a time. If you used a starter fertilizer you will not need to fertilize again for several months. You never want to overfertilize as this can "burn" the lawn and encourages overly lush growth that is more prone to pests and diseases. The following lawn care calendar should give you some tips on when to do what to maintain your lawn.
