| I seem to kill all plants that I literally touch. I have a plant now that I have never touched the soil or the plant and it lives. Any plant that i touch the soil or the plant itself, dies. My grandmother says it's because of the acids and oils in my skin. Is this true? I want to grow a garden but I do not want to invest all the work just to have it all die. | Krys, No that is not true. If there was anything on your hand that would damage a plant then the spot you touched would turn brown or black but the entire plant wouldn't die. Take heart! You can be a successful gardener, you just need to follow some basic guidelines to provide plants what they need to grow. Good soil preparation, proper lighting levels, adequate moisture but not too much (overwatering kills more plants than underwatering), and gradual feeding are the keys to growing great plants and great gardens.
