What can I do or use to keep the groundhogs and squirels from eating more tomatoes? When I put mothballs around them on ground, they leave them alone, but the birds carry them off as fast as I can put them out. |
You might try a pepper wax spray or one of the spray on or granular repellents labeled for rodents or squirrels. Or, for the groundhog, you could fence the garden. You might consider removing the groundhog -- these are very wild and unpredictable and can inflict severe bites. Sometimes squirrels seem to bite into tomatoes more often when the weather is dry, so you might try setting out a shallow pan of water for them to drink from. I hope this helps! |
