How do you get grass to grow on soil that hasn't been taken care of in three years? |
I'd start by watering regularly to green it up and applying a weed and feed to get rid of any weeds. This fall you can aerate it by renting a plugging machine which will remove cores of soil. Leave the plugs on the lawn (they will disintegrate in the rain) and spread some sand over the entire lawn (which will work its way into the holes in the lawn created by removing the plugs. The sand will help loosen compacted soil. Reseed the lawn and water regularly until rainfall takes over the job for you. By next spring you should have a healthy new lawn. Best wishes with your lawn! |
