Some houseplants benefit from extra humidity which can be accomplished by using a plastic tray or plastic saucer (found in the garden section of your local Home Depot) and filling it with pebbles (gravel or aquarium rocks) and then keeping a half-inch to an inch of water in it. You can then set potted houseplants on top of the gravel. As the water evaporates from the tray it will increase humidity around the plants. Setting the potted plants on the gravel will keep them from getting wet feet.
