There are many different possible choices depending on the amount of shade and the type of soil where you are planting. In deep shade, you might try Hedera helix or Pachysandra terminalis, both are traditional spreading evergreen groundcovers. In partial shade such as morning only sun or bright dappled light, you could use those ivy or you could use a shade tolerant perennial such as Hosta or ferns or Lily of the Valley. You could also use violas. If the area is shaded in the morning and sunny in the afternoon you will need to use sun loving plants. |
