Just moved into our first house and the lawn is about 80% Dead, with bare spots and weeds. Can this lawn be saved with fertilizer and weed control and constant watering?

That's the course I would take. By next spring you'll be more familiar with your lawn and will be able to tell if it's dead because of lack of water or if it really needs to be renovated. I'd start with the weed control. There are several products on the market, or you could use a weed and feed. After the weeds are dead and you've fertilized your lawn, you can rake out the dead areas and reseed this fall. Next spring you should have a healthier, thicker lawn.
