The Q&A Archives: bird of paradise

Question: How long can I keep a recently purchased bird of paradise plant in the original 1 gallon container?

Answer: The answer depends upon the size of the plant, but in general, you can keep it in the same pot for a year. If roots begin escaping from the drainage holes in the bottom of the pot, the plant is rootbound and should be repotted.

Best wishes with your bird of paradise!
