I bought a clematis last summer and it was blooming. I planted it and it came back this spring and is growing quite well BUT HASN'T BLOOMED AT ALL! It gets about 2 hrs. sun in the afternoon. The card that came with it said it is a shade tolerant plant. Is there something I can do to make it bloom? Thank you |
Depending on the variety, some clematis vines can take several years to become established and bloom well. This is especially true for the varieties which only bloom on the previous year's wood. Make sure your plant has reasonable fertility and moist soil (not soggy) and be patient -- next year may be the year you begin to see results! Clematis are so wonderful it's worth the wait. |
