| We have grown an avocado tree from a seed/pit. It is now 4 feet tall. Can it survive if planted outdoors? We live in the Northwest Florida panhandle about 30 miles inland. Any planting hints? |
| Avocados are tropical plants which will not do well in North Florida or the Panhandle. We have a plant, here in Jacksonville, that we grew from a seed. We have had it for 2 years. Last year it got killed back, but with our mild winter this yearit lived through the winter. It is a good conversation piece. We do not expect it will live long enough to bear fruit. Avocados grow to be quite large trees. |
