| We have a very narrow, South faceing bed beside the driveway into our church.I'd like to plant it with slow growing, evergreen shrubs and mixed perennials, and it will be heavily mulched to reduce evaporation. Is there a cedar or juniper that would suit this area...it must not be a big spreader, but if it is, then it needs to stand up to cutting back hard each year. |
| I would plant Juniperus procumbens 'Nana' (Dwarf Japanese Garden Juniper). It reaches 10" in height and has a 3-5' spread. It is considered one of the best ground hugging small evergreens. Its cushion-like form is covered by dense bluish green foliage. It's a handsome low ground cover and an excellent addition to the rock garden. |
