Grass loses color for many reasons including stress due dry soil, pest or disease issues, over or underfertilizing, reaction to chemical exposure or herbicide, and so on. The best way to green it up will depend on what has caused it to lose color. You might want to consult with your local Cornell county extension to figure out what has happened to the lawn and work from there. If a chemical or fertilizer is needed, they should be able to advise you on what to use and how/when is best to use it. In the meantime, here is some information on lawn trouble shooting you may find helpful.

This is a good time to begin planning lawn work -- run your soil tests now as it can take a little time to get the results. Then be ready to work on the lawn in early September which is the best time of year for lawn renovation or seeding type projects.
