I have several bouganvillas in container pots and although their foliage is beautiful they are not blooming like they should. I also have some Ixora's planted in the ground that are looking very drab. I have tried Ixora food, etc., but I am wondering which is the best plant food for Ixoras and for Bouganvillas. The Ixoras I have in pots are looking better that the ones in the ground. The ones in the ground get full, full sun in my city of Laredo where it is always 95 plus. Help.

Bougainvilleas are heavy feeders and respond best to almost constant feeding with 1/2 strength water soluble fertilizer, e.g., Peter's 20-20-20, Excel 21-5-20, Miracle Grow or Rapid Grow. With high light and constant feeding, the plants will bloom at least 11 months of the year. Straight hibiscus food has also been a very successful fertilizer for both bougainvilleas and Ixoras.

Give this fertilizer regime a try and I think you'll see a difference in their performance.
