We planted some trees two years ago and they seem spindly. can they be trimmed back at anytime or is it better to wait until fall. They look kind of sparse.

Spring is the best time to prune your tree. If you prune now, it may not respond with new branches and foliage. Wait until it just begins to bud out in the spring and then prune it back a bit. This will encourage two new branches where there once was only one, and should result in a denser canopy.

Best wishes with your trees!
