| I don't think it's necessary to dig up the plant. I would simply place some organic mulch over the top of the soil (but not too close to the trunk or main stem). As the organic matter breaks down, it will work its way into the soil. Add organic matter to the top of the soil every year and it will help slow water evaporation, suppress weeds and moderate soil temperatures. |
