| Bougainvilleas bloom on new shoots which grow from old wood. Sunshine promotes new growth so the more sun, the more potential for blooms. Bougainvilleas are cyclic in their habits. They grow, then bloom, then rest, then begin to grow again. The average time between bloom cycles is about 6 weeks. Rich, well drained soil, deep watering and monthly feeding (light applications of general purpose 5-10-10) should keep your plants happy enough to bloom from spring through fall (and beyond if the weather remains warm).
