I had an up coming rose bush and then one day it was like someone took a torch to it. Then looking around one of our big tallo trees where the dogs mark their territory, the same burnt grass surrounds it. we have had 2 big tress in our yard die with no apparent reason, and I wondered if the dogs marking their territory could have killed them as well as one of my rose bushes.

Sarah,

Dog urine can kill a rose if you get enough. The salts are concentrated and can burn the roots. A tree has too extensive of a root system to be susceptible to such a problem. If anyone sprayed a weed killer around the plants to kill the grass away this could also be the culprit.
