Crape myrtles bloom on new growth so early spring is the best time to prune, just as new growth begins. This will result in lots of flowers. After the flowers are spent you can prune a second time to both remove the spent flowers and to encourage additional new growth. This second pruning often results in a second flush of blooms later in the summer.

Best wishes with your crape myrtles!
