I have both red and yellow bird of paridise and some thing has eaten all the leaves branches & bark off of both plants. Both are fairly young plants and are inside my back yard which is chain link fence.
Can you give me an idea what is doing this and how best to futher protect any other shrubs like this.
Thank you
Marylee

I've had a similar experience and found that wrapping the main stems of the plants with lightweight fishing line keeps the squirrels from stripping the bark away. Or, you could cage the plants in a cylinder of chicken wire for a few months. Animals are creatures of habit. If they find they cannot access a favorite plant, they will go elsewhere.

Best wishes with your landscape!
