My front lawn has two trees that provide lots of shade, but little grass grows there. Is there a type of seed of grass that i should plant that will grow in the shade? What would be the best time to put this seed down?

Unfortunately, there are no turf grass varieties that thrive in the shade in the low desert. St. Augustine grass will take some shade, but not "lots" as you describe your conditions.
