The Q&A Archives: fig tree

Question: my figs keeping falling off before they get to ripe.they get about inch and then they fall

Answer: There are a number of reasons for premature fig drop; lack of pollination is the most common, environmental = cool/wet/hot conditions; insufficient water; too much nitrogen fertilizer. Or, the figs could have been invaded by a pest. Cut one of the fallen fruit open to see if there is a grub or wormlike critter inside. Without knowing what kind of fig tree you're growing, I can't recommend a pollinizer.

Hope this information will help you determine just why the fruits are dropping off.
