my peach tree had lots of fruits growing on the tree, but suddenly its leaves become yellow and the fruits started to shrivel. What is wrong, and what should I do?

Sudden yellowing and fruit shrivel indicates a root stress of some kind. Lack of water or over-fertilization could cause these symptoms; root rot from overly saturated soils could also cause the symptoms. Wish I could diagnose the problem, but without actually examining the tree, I'm at a loss.
