Dear Expert,

What is the benefit or not of using a coco-liner in my hanging basket? It seems to me that now, after 4-5 months, it is already deteriating slightly. When should I expect to replace it? Also, it seems not to hold any water at all. If the water seems to just go straight through, does that mean the plant doesn't need it?

Thanks,
Brandi

Brandi,

Those liners are great for holding in soil and they also help the soil to not dry out quite as quickly as some other types of natural liner since they act rather like a mulch. The soil mix should hold moisture well but you want the liner to allow water to pass through. Their useful life varies but you should get a year or perhaps two out of them.

Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon!
