Summer flowering bulbs/corm/tubers, etc., include: gladiolus, oriental lily, tiger lily, dahlia, peacock orchids, sparaxis, zephyranthes (rain lily, mini amaryllis), montbretia, anemone, tuberoses, canna, freesia, chincherinchee, ixia, crocosmia, ranunculus, calla, tuberous begonia, caladium. Just about any ornamental grass will give you year long interest. Look for Miscanthus and Pennisetum. Shrubs would include Butterfly Bush (Buddleia davidii, 'Summer Lilac'), roses, crape myrtle, spiraea(some, but not all varieties, try 'Shibori'), and clethra.
