The Q&A Archives: Crape Myrtle

Question: I purchased 2 Crape Myrtles from Home Depot a month or so ago. Both are doing great except that one has started to get some yellow leaves. Do the yellow leaves indicate a problem? I just fertilized both with Miracle-gro.

Answer: Bonnie,

Some yellowing and loss of older foliage is normal, especially on a new plant in summer. Try to keep the soil moist but not soggy and continue to fertilize periodically to maintain moderate vigor.
