I don't see many recommendations for my part of the world. I'm ready to create a new flower bed. It's north facing shaded by a lovely service berry bush (15ft tall). It gets maybe 1 or 2 hours of sun at 4am during the long daylight hours in summer. It's a lovely space along the street/sidewalk and I'm very concerned about curbside appeal. What type of perennials would you recommend? Remember it can get as cold as -60?F and as warm as 90?F.

I don't know if you have seen the following publication from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, but it has many, many annuals and perennials listed and they all seem to thrive in your area. I think it's worth a look (and a download for future reference): http://www.uaf.edu/ces/publica...

I really think you'll find more recommendations than you have space to grow!
Enjoy!
