my tree tomatoes have a large number of tomates and the plants are healthy. I water them every other day because of the heat. As the tomatoes start to ripen the skins start to crack. Am I watering to much or not enough or could there be another reason they crack?

Some tomato varieties are more susceptible to skin cracking, but it all has to do with heat and the inability of the skin to expand enough. Keeping the soil consistently moist will help stop the cracking. You might also try spreading a mulch on the soil beneath the plants to slow evaporation and to moderate the soil temperature.

Best wishes with your tomatoes!
