The Q&A Archives: Planting

Question: Is it to late to plant hibiscus. I have two that has been in a pot from last year. Are they cold plants or should they be covered and planted out of the way of the North wind. Full sun or does that matter. Thank you Cathy

Answer: Cathy,

Tropical hibiscus have shiny foliage and are cold tender. Freezes will kill them. Perennial hibiscus have non-shiny foliage and die to the ground in winter cold but return again in spring. Both like full sun and good drainage.
