I have a well established (5 summers) azalea. I get leaves on the plant every year but not one flower. And no one seems to know why.

There are only a few reasons for non-flowering in azaleas. Lack of maturity (probably doesn't apply in this case); incorrect exposure to sun - some azaleas require a few hours of sunshine and some need all day sun; pruning at the wrong time (azaleas develop flower buds during the summer months for the following year's display); alkaline soil (most azaleas prefer slightly acidic soils); or too much nitrogen fertilizer (nitrogen promotes lush, green growth sometimes at the expense of flowering). Once you've determined the probable cause, to can correct the situation and enjoy those flowers. Best wishes with your azaleas.
