I wanted to grow herbs like cilantro, mint, and maybe chives and oregano or rosemary as potted plants.
What soil and other things do i need in addition to the pot. Also to collect the water that drains do I keep a plate below the pot.
Thanks

Herbs need full sun to do their best. These will all do well outdoors in containers during the summer, but you would need to bring them inside for the winter. Indoors, they will need the brightest window sill you have, preferably south facing in a light room. Use a good quality potting mix formulated for container plants. Use a pot with a drainage hole to allow excess water to escape. If you keep the pot on a window sill you will want to use something under it to catch any excess after each watering. Fertilize with a water soluble fertilizer such as 10-10-10 plus minors, or use a granular slow release fertilizer. Use the lower concentration on the label directions. Good luck with your herbs!
