The Q&A Archives: tree?

Question: Are you familiar w/ a Stewartia Monadelpha tree? Some sites say that it will grow here.

Answer: Stewartia monadelpha is a native species well-suited for the Deep South. Well-drained, acid to neutral soil is best. Tall Stewartia can tolerate a full sun position if its roots can be shaded by ground cover, mulch or shrubbery. This may be the best Stewartia species for the Deep South. It's such a pretty tree, I'd give it a try in Baton Rouge!
