| I just purchased this through homedepot. It looked great when I got it home. The roots were sturdy and not overgrown. I transfered it to a clay pot with lots of good fertalized soil. I then watered. Now it looks bad. It has only been a couple of days. It is turning slightly yellow and drooping. I only watered it the one time. It says it doesn't need much water. I noticed on one of the message boards someone said something about a pot being too large. They were referring to something else, but could this be the case? The pot is about four inches wider and five or six inches deeper. Everything else seems to be in keeping with what the plant likes. Please help. Also, it says not to water often but should I be misting it? I would think it would get mist at homedepot and in the jungle. THANKS! |
| Miki, That pot sounds okay to me. The issue with too large of a pot is that when you saturate the soil it stays too wet for too long because roots have not yet filled all the soil areas. I think your plant is either suffering from transplant shock or it is a water extreme such as dry or wet conditions that brought this on. Try to let the soil dry out a bit and then water moderately. This will give the plant the best chance of recovering. It doesn't need to be misted. One more thought is that if the light levels where you have it are dramatically different from the levels where it was in the garden center this may be part of the reason for its stress response.
