I am growing Anaheim, Jalapeno, Habanero & Serrano peppers; tomatillos, red tomatos, yellow tomatos; and soybeans. Can you give me the proper ph(akaline or acidic) for these various types of plants? I can then plan how I will plant my garden. |
Most common vegetables will grow well in soil pH of 6.0 to 7.5. Peppers and tomatoes will tolerate slightly more acidic soils - from 5.5 to 6.8. Beans like a slighltly more alkaline soil and prefer the pH to be 5.8 to 6.5. As long as you amend your soil with lots of organic matter to help hold moisture and nutrients, a pH of 6.0 to 7.5 will suit your plants quite well. |
