What is best way to get lawn to drain water better? There are area drains through-out sides of yard but some water doesn't get to them and just sits. Builder laid some additional sod on these areas but it didn't take care of issue.

Staci,

One option would be to remove the sod, bring in some topsoil to fill in low areas and then relay the sod. Another option is to have a landscaper install subsurface drainage, commonly called a "French drain". This works like the reverse of a septic line allowing water to move into the subsurface perforated pipe and then run off to a lower area where it exits the pipe. A qualified landscaper can discuss the suitability of such a system for your property.
