Are you supposed to trim off the hydrangea blooms once they dry up and turn brown? If so, how far down?
thanks

On a mature plant, the custom is to prune the flowering stalk down 8-12". This will make spring pruning easier because you will have already reduced the size of your shrub. If yours is a rather new plant with short stems, prune only a few inches below the spent flower.

Good luck with your garden!
