The Q&A Archives: Broken Sisoo tree

Question: Recently strong winds broke the top off our tree. It is only 5 months old, has a very bushy appearance, and stands about 5 ft tall. Will it grow a new

Answer: At such a young age, your Sissoo tree (Dahlbergia) will recover from the damage. They tend to be bushy and full and it's natural for another branch to become the new central leader. You won't need to do anything to encourage this growth. If you watch the tree, you'll notice that the strongest branch at the top of the tree will take over the job of central leader. Best wishes with your landscape!
