We have what looks like a good amount of very green oranges growing right now; when can we trim the tree? How much water should it be getting right now? It will be time to fertilize it next month, ok to do so I use |
Jim, Trim the tree as needed to remove broken or rubbing branches but they don't require much pruning. With few exceptions citrus trees will develop and maintain their natural shape with little or no training or pruning. Water as needed to maintain moderate moisture. Spikes are okay for fertilizing but sprinkling a turf type fertilizer around the tree is fine too and less expensive. If you see bumpy fruit take some to your County Extension Office and see if they can identify the problem and if necessary prescribe an appropriate remedy. Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon! |
