Can onion and spinach seeds be planted now? And if so, when can they be harvested? |
You can plant spinach seeds now and begin harvesting on a cut and come again basis quite soon. Or, if you prefer to wait for mature sized plants you would add about ten days to the estimated days to harvest listed on the packet of the variety you plant. Often the plants will overwinter for early spring harvest as well. Onions are usually planted earlier than this for fall harvest, but if you plant onion seeds now you may be able to harvest some for green onions late this fall and then, if mulched heavily for winter, they may also overwinter for harvest next spring. |
