Based on your description I am not certain what is happening to your plant. Spathiphyllum leaves will yellow or "sunburn" usually beginning at the top of the plant first, if it is placed in too much direct sun; it tolerates only indirect light and is happy with a moderate overall light level. The plant may also yellow if it is overwatered, usually beginning with inner lower leaves first. Overwatering can cause root and stem problems leading to discolored foliage as a symptom. The soil should be evenly moist but not saturated/sopping wet and the pot must have a working drain hole in the bottom to allow excess water to escape. I hope this helps you trouble shoot.
