| Last year we planted an apple and plum trees. They both had blooms this year. Plum tree had fruits but apple tree did not. As there was some polination done, I am curios why the apple tree did not have any apples at all. Thank you |
| There are several possible reasons why you might not have fruit. Apples generally take several years to settle in and become established enough to bear fruit. Young trees may bloom a little and set a few apples initially but they tend to drop off before they mature because the tree is not mature enough to develop the fruit all season. Also, most apples require a nearby pollen source apple tree blooming at the same time and active bees to move the pollen for fruit set to occur. Without eithe rof those, you would see blooms but no fruit at all. Weather such as a drought or a late spring freeze can also disrupt fruiting. I hope you have better luck next year. |
