| In the future I will follow all this steps. But I just really want to know what can I do now to see it much better? I stopped to water it and I noticed a good change, the soil started to dry, but my mistake was that last monday I sprayed plant food on the leaves and soil (Miracle-gro houseplant food 8-7-6), at the next day some leaves turned a little light green color. So I put it on the tub and watered it for 4 times to leach excess fertilizer salts from the soil and leaves. Did I do well? Because now these leaves are turning in a really light yellow almost all the branches, specially the lower ones. My afraid is, that it can damage all the palm. Could be that it is suffering by lack of some nutrient instead, like magnesium, Nitrogen, Potash etc. Thanks for all the previous information, but I need to do something right now for it. I would not like to loose it. |
| I think you were right in leaching excess salts from the soil. At this point I would not fertilize the palm. It is struggling and needs time to recover before it can put out new growth. Don't feed it and don't spray it with fertilizer. Just put it in a spot with bright light but no direct sunshine and keep it out of drafts from fans or air conditioner vents. Just keep it watered and wait until you see healthy new growth. when you do, you can cut off the dead or dying fronds to make room for the new fronds. Best wishes with your palm. |
