in the last week my grass has been dying in a circular motion. It is in 2 opposite areas of the yard. It has been very dry for the last month and extremely hot. I do have dogs [2], but they usually find a bush or tree. I fertilized with a summer guard for st.augustine 2 months ago when we had lots of rain. Any ideas. Thanks

Denise,

If the spots originated near a sidewalk or curb in a sunny area it may be chinch bugs. If not you may be seeing a fungal disease such as Take All Patch or possibly grubs. I suggest you contact your County Extension Office. They can assist you with diagnosing the specific cause of the problem and by recommending an appropriate, labeled spray product. Their contact info is:
1070 Schillinger Rd., N.
Mobile, AL 36608-5298
Phone: (251) 574-8445
