I want to plant some fast growing evergreen for screening on the west side of my home. It is sunny from noon to 4:00 pm. What would you suggest?

English laurel is a good choice, as is Peking Cotoneaster, Red Twig Dogwood, Yellow Twig Dogwood and Viburnums: Virbunum trilobum has maple-like leaves and a very thick growth habit. Burkwood Viburnums are semi-evergreen and more open with smaller leaves. Leatherleaf Viburnums have very large, leathery leaves and can also be semi-evergreen, meaning they don't lose all their leaves in winter but will lose some.

Hope one of these suggestions is just right for your garden.
